Cloud automations that run while you sleep
You should not need to keep a browser tab open to run a scheduled task. Echo Notes runs approved automations on the server independently of your browser, with run history, delivery records, and full audit trails you can inspect at any time.
01 · The problem
Browser-dependent automations break when you close the tab
Many automation tools require your browser to stay open. If you close the tab, the automation stops. If your computer goes to sleep, the schedule breaks. You end up keeping unnecessary tabs open or losing track of whether the task actually ran.
- Your problem
- You need to check public information regularly without keeping a tab open or repeating the same steps.
- Why it happens
- Browser-based automations depend on the browser being open and active.
- The cost
- You either keep unnecessary tabs open or miss scheduled checks entirely.
02 · The solution
Server-run tasks with visible audit trails
In deployments where the cloud task service is enabled, Echo Notes schedules approved automations on the server. The server runs active tasks independently of the open browser. You can close your laptop, put your phone away, or switch to a different device—the automation continues on schedule.
Every run leaves a record. You can see when the task ran, what it produced, and how its configuration changed. The automation console shows run history, delivery status, and audit events.

03 · The workflow
Set up and monitor a cloud automation
Follow these steps to create and track a scheduled task.
- 1Configure the automation
Choose the source, schedule, and conditions for the task. - 2Approve and enable
Review the configuration and enable the task when ready. - 3Monitor the run history
Check when the task ran, what it produced, and any failures. - 4Audit the changes
Review delivery records and configuration changes over time.
04 · Checklist
What to verify before enabling an automation
| Check | What good looks like | If it fails |
|---|---|---|
| Source | The public source is approved and accessible. | Verify the source URL and permissions. |
| Schedule | The frequency matches your needs without excessive polling. | Adjust the interval to balance freshness and load. |
| Conditions | Filters prevent unnecessary runs and notifications. | Refine the conditions to reduce noise. |
| Audit | Run history and delivery records are visible. | Check deployment configuration and service status. |
05 · Limitations
What automations depend on
Cloud automations depend on the deployment operator enabling the task control plane. Not every deployment includes this feature. The automation console is read-only offline—you can view cached snapshots but cannot create or modify tasks without a connection.
Availability boundaryCurrent public claims cover in-app result tracking, not real email delivery. Verify your deployment's capabilities before relying on specific delivery methods.
06 · Echo Notes practice
Set up your first automation
Configure a simple automation that checks a public source daily. Enable it, close your browser, and return the next day to review the run history. Once you trust the pattern, explore more complex schedules and conditions. For a full feature list, see Features.
FAQ
Cloud automation questions
Do automations continue after I close the browser?
Yes. In deployments where cloud automations are enabled, active tasks are scheduled by the server and do not require the browser to stay open.
Are cloud automations available in every deployment?
No. Cloud automations depend on the deployment operator enabling the task control plane.
Can I see when a task ran?
Yes. The automation console shows run history, delivery status, and audit events.
Can I pause or resume a task?
Yes. You can pause, resume, run now, and make versioned edits to automation configurations.
Is the automation console available offline?
The console is read-only offline. You can view cached snapshots but cannot create or modify tasks without a connection.
Let tasks run while you rest
Configure an automation, close the browser, and check the results tomorrow.
